Greetings Inky Friends!

I'm back with a couple more stamps from the January NEW Release!

First I sprayed watercolor paper with Art Anthology Sprays using Timeless, Grass and Ink Spot. I dried the piece with a heat tool and then misted the Falling Checks stamp with water using the water as my "ink" to stamp onto the sprayed piece. This reacted by lifting some of the colored spray off the paper and leaving a ghosted image. For the images I used the adorable Geek Chic set
and heat embossed them in black.!

Next up I used the new Happy Valentine's Day stamp and colored it in using alcohol markers. I masked the Kitty Lovers behind the heart so it looks like they are sitting on it. For the background I used the Vortex background stamp and I heavily applied gelatos to it. I sprayed the stamp with water and pressed it onto watercolor paper. This was my second print too with lots of color still on it!  I tied it off with FSJ's Sweet Berry Crimped Ribbon.

Valentine's Day is near and both sets would be great for the tech-y geek or kitty-lover in your life!

I'm back to share the progress of a couple Mixed Media pieces I did for gifts to my pastor and his wife. I had asked them about a year ago what their favorite Bible verses were and I used that as inspiration to create these 8x10 canvases. Hope you enjoy!

I began by adding sheet music (The Messiah) to the canvas with matte medium. I then created a glaze of matte medium mixed with acrylic paint and covered that. The white is gesso I scraped on using an old credit card.

I cut shapes from patterned paper and adhered it down using a gel medium. The gel works better for sticking down heavier paper.

Adding more details and filling in the wording to the verse.

I used Fiber Paste to add puffy clouds and smudged the edges with a brown paint to finish it off.
I apparently forgot to take progression photos of the Pastor's piece! Ooops! :)

And here they are side-by-side.  I was pleased with the turn out and I hope they were too!

Check back here on Monday to see my designs for Technique Junkie new releases!!

Until then, Happy Creating!

Night Owl

Recently I participated in a Goody Goody Gift Swap.   The idea is you are assigned a swap mate that you create and/or shop for and swap a gift with only having limited information about your partner.  You shared your favorite color plus 3 items about yourself.  I learned from Happy Owl that her favorite color is blue, she loves all critters, winter and textiles.  I told her that my favorite color was purple and I love turtles, eyes and eclectic items.

I made her a 5x7 mixed media piece, sent this Suzie Blue Bracelet and some Ohio made Buckeye Candies from Waggoner Chocolates.  Here's the progression of my piece:
I began by roughly sketching my idea and adding ripped scrapbook paper and tissue paper with gel medium.

I then added some Glass Beads to acrylic paint and spread onto canvas.

The brown branch has Fiber Paste added to the paint and I began painting in the colors of the owl using Art Anthology Sorbet paints for a shimmery effect, outlining him with a black Fude Ball Pen. This pen is AMAZING to write with over paints and mediums!! I also toned down the bright blue by smudging some white paint with my finger and creating a lighter blue glaze by mixing acrylic paint with Fluid matte medium.
I then mixed some silver paint with fiber paste and stenciled in some stars and lightly outlined and smudged them with a Faber Castell Pitt pen.

Happy Owl should have received this December 28th and I hope she likes it! I had a lot of fun making it and think it turned out pretty cute!

Here was my cool gift I received - a painted glass feather and glass snowflake ornament!

This is the second year I have participated in the Goody Goody Gift Swap. So far, I have only seen it organized for the Christmas holiday. If you are looking for a fun and unique swap, I encourage you to try it! It's relatively affordable as they suggest a $20 limit. You never know what you will receive or what new friendship you may begin!

Happy Creating ~ Tonya :D

Greetings my Inky Friends!

Today is my turn to share on the Design Team Blog
and I'm here to show you a couple more of the January Releases!
Remember the TJ January New Releases are 15% OFF if you order by January 8th!!

I'm going to start with this fun little puppy called Perfect Companions.

It's hard to see the shimmer in the background but I used Perfect Pearls and clear embossing powder in a technique from the Emboss or Die CD! So many fun step-by-step tutorials if you like to heat/dry emboss, use a die cutting machine and so much more!

Next up is this sassy little card to send to your main squeeze!
The SENTIMENT cracked me up and well, I can kinda relate! ;)  I was so happy to have already owned the Fan Girl stamp and thought she fit perfectly with the saying!

For this background, I used alcohol inks and a stencil from the Sensational Stencils CD and then I also ran it through the Big Shot with an embossing folder.

I will be sharing again over there on the 18th, but make sure and bookmark that BLOG
to see the others inspiring ideas with the new releases!!   {{{Inky Hugs}}} ~Tonya :D

Tonya Davidson: YOU ARE HERE :)

This Denim Days Background is perfect for masculine cards!! I know we all have some trouble coming up with new men's cards!!  I stamped the background using Denim Days True Color Fusion Ink Pad, layered onto Denim Days cardstock and cut a slit in the pocket to add some Birthday Cash! Birthday Wishes cut into a banner and faux stitching popped up, and the piece mounted to red card base finished off the card!

My second card features the Falling Checks background. The first time I saw it, I thought of Minecraft ~ and I'm not sure why since I'm not very familiar with it at all. So I had to look up the icon to get its face down right. I think I got it pretty close!  I inked up the background in green and repeated stamping until no more ink transferred. I flipped the piece over and repeated the stamping process.  The sentiment, stamped in a white pigment ink, is from Simple Sentiments 2B
So that's it for now!! Make sure and hop on over to Beth's Blog to keep the ideas coming your way! And don't forget to order before January 8th to save 15%!!!!
